A1 Activity: Theater of the Oppressed Hylatio Tourist Village, Pissouri (18 - 26 of September 2021)

This project aims to promote mental wellbeing and positive attitude in life during crisis times. To achieve that, we focus to create activities that will help participants to evaluate themselves, to manage their emotions and align their behavior to their values. Moreover, self-awareness allows to motivate themselves and manage their stress better and helps them to take the right decisions in their life. Through this training we aim to emphasize on the following subjects:

- Promote mental well-being and positive attitude in life: To ensure the best possible outcomes of the project, the priority is to gain self-awareness. Self-awareness is the key for mental well-being. When you see ourselves clearly, we are more confident and more creative. We make sounder decisions, built strong relationships, and communicate more effectively.

-Develop skills for better understanding of their selves and others: Relevant activities are of that nature where all participants will have the chance to think as being part of a team, to develop themselves and to help the others reach their best selves, in democracy ground and through cooperation. Furthermore, the more you know about yourself, the better you are at adapting to life's changes. That is why we choose this important topic to be the main activity of our project because we believe that will help all the participants in a high level.

-Gain self-confidence and other resilience: During the training, the participants will have the opportunity to get know their selves better, to express their feelings and emotions in front of others. When you don't hesitate to expose yourself, immediately it means that you have self-confident.

-Identify and manage emotions under crisis periods. In order to transfer the knowledge of the concept of Self-awareness, we will use theatre methods of Participatory Theater with special focus on Theater of Opressed, which mainly deals with situations of conflicts, crisis and challenging situations offering creative and participatory space to explore them and to find strategies to overcome them. It creates dialogue understood as a safe place to disagree.

-Stress management and stress relief techniques and other coping strategies: Every morning in the training we will start, and we end each subject with stress relief techniques as yoga, meditation, virtualization to ground ourselves and decompress from the intensity of the exercises.

-Develop innovative ideas for self-improvement: Every day in the training the participants will have a personal journal that they will realize their strengthens and their weakness and also what they expect to achieve in everyday sessions and when you are aware of who you are, you can achieve anything you want in your life.

- Improve interpersonal communication through the development of effective communication skills and techniques. As I mentioned before, the feedback it will play a crucial role in our training. The participants will have the time to give their own feedback but also as a team. Thus, the participants will assimilate what they learn, experimentally but also consciously. So, they will feel free to express their opinions without the fear of judgment. Also, we will make a lot of activities that engage the active listening and how to be aware of others.

-Strengthen awareness for other cultures: Provide the relevant knowledge and involve participants in activities that will enable them to criticize and attempt to eliminate any form of discrimination. During the training, we will make a lot of activities with role-playing and group discussions that involve participants in scenarios of different types of discrimination either in personal or professional life.

-Promote teamwork, cooperation and collective spirit: According to Andrew Carnegie teamwork is the ability to work together towards a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results. In our training, we engage teamwork through various team building activities, such as having discussions about the team's purposes and goals and finding creative ways to overcome crisis and challenging situations through fun activities.

The different activities are scheduled in a way that will facilitate the purpose of the training and lead to the best possible results. In the first days, there is a focus on team building activities and introduction to self-awareness and improvement. Furthermore, there will be presentations by each group where they will performance real stories of their emotions in a crisis. In this way, the participants will bond with each other, develop trust, feel more comfortable and have better communication. Once this is achieved and they become familiar with the subjects of self-awareness and self-improvement they will have the opportunity, based on their own stories, to create a performance that will put in practice all the theories.

We will try to connect the specific issues and themes of the activity with the elements and the working methods (also the sessions of the program) that we will work in the training so to be able to define the better results in answering the question. We will work in all specific issues of our activities in Non-Formal Education method as we describe below. In the following lines we are going to describe the elements that we are going to use.

-Promote mental well-being and positive attitude in life.

As we mentioned below, in the training we will use different methods of Theater of Oppressed (TO), a technique of educational and social intervention and will make in a lot of ways the participants to promote mental wellbeing and positive attitude in life.

-Develop skills for better understanding of their selves and others. During the training course we will work with the basic concepts of self-awareness. This includes the four aspects of self-awareness; the physical, the emotions, mental and spiritual.

The physical body is the most obvious aspect of one's self, the physical body. We will learn through yoga(breathing techniques),meditation and dance movement how our physical body's condition can affect the other aspects of our self. Also, we will explore emotional awareness through meditation and visualization. Awareness of our emotions brings awareness on an emotional level. Being able to identify how we feel at any given moment is an important objective of becoming self-aware. The Mental Self refers to our thoughts and Imagination, Self-awareness enables you to have better control of this aspect. Finally, we will explore the meaning of spiritual self, that does not mean we discuss anything about religious beliefs or aims to discredit religious beliefs. The spiritual self instead discusses a person's sense of identity, interconnected, and personal values.

-Gain Self-confidence will be one of the benefits that everyone participating in this project will gain. Gaining self-knowledge and working at the same time with something as personal as their personal stories and their feelings in an environment where they feel safe, it is inevitable to not believe in their selves. By appreciating who we are and our uniqueness, we can claim what we desire from our lives.

-Identify and manage emotions under crisis periods, Stress management and relief techniques and other coping strategies

All the activities that we prepare they aim to help the participants to observe their thoughts, in order to see with clear eyes and mind, how is the situation really and avoiding unnecessary dramas that they born in our minds from fear of rejection and they are connected with the power we give to others prospective. We will use meditation, yoga, visualization, and calming techniques to relax from the stress and be present to the moment, and not carry the traumas of the past.

-Develop innovative ideas for self-improvement. As, we mentioned above, every participant will have the opportunity to reflect and note his own progress and feelings in a daily basis thus to reflect to team activities. Also, they have to cooperate with other participants and finding solutions in real life problems.

-Improve interpersonal communication through the development of effective communication skills and techniques. We promote through our activities and the active listening. For example, we divide the participants in pairs of two and the A person starts to talk about three wishes that he wants to accomplish during his life. The B person only listens. When the A person finishes, the other starts to talk. When they both finished, they talk how they feel as a listener and as a talker. Another activity is to create a big circle and one of the participants must change position with another without talking, only with eye contact. It is quite difficult exercise and requires absolute concentration and teamwork form the participants.

-Strengthen awareness for other cultures. With international nights and a lot of activities in groups participants will have the chance to be aware of other cultures.

-Promote teamwork, cooperation, and collective spirit. The training will encourage the participants to think clearly, to use their strengths to become better, to engage critical thinking working as a team and having a common vision and at the same time to respect each other diversity. Through the interactive nature of workshops, they will activate their creativity and their emotional intelligence having a fun time at the same time. The participants will become full aware of their selves and other human beings and learn how to cope with stress and anxiety in crisis time, how to clear their mind ,relax their bodies and living in the present, finding solutions that work better for them and their mental health.
